In the event of natural disasters or man-made crisis situations such as armed conflict or a complex crisis such as famine, Connexio develop makes a rapid and unbureaucratic contribution to the protection and care of people in need.
All of our partner organizations' emergency aid projects are based on the international humanitarian standards of humanity, neutrality, impartiality and independence, so that people in need have access to life-saving support measures without discrimination of any kind.
In the event of disasters in regions where no Connexio develop partner organization is directly active, we work with organizations from our network that provide competent and effective aid on the ground.
Far from the spotlight of Western media coverage, people in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of the Congo have been battling one of the worst Ebola outbreaks the country has ever experienced since mid-May. The Methodist Church there is now expanding its humanitarian and health relief efforts in the eastern part of the country once again.
Connexio develop is supporting the Methodist Diocese of Eastern Congo in its efforts to prevent Ebola and raise awareness among the population in Kisangani (Tshopo Province) and Beni (North Kivu Province). To counter the further spread of the disease, 30 representatives from various church groups are receiving targeted training. The goal is to widely disseminate key information on Ebola prevention among the general population, thereby strengthening people’s protection.
In addition, local radio stations in these areas are broadcasting targeted information on Ebola prevention. Connexio also supports develop by installing hand-washing stations and providing infrared thermometers to promote hygiene in key facilities.
