Support for families at risk

In the rural region of Maule in Chile, many families live in precarious working conditions. This also affects children's educational opportunities.

They are supported by small groups and leisure activities at school.

The project builds on the experience gained with the "William Taylor" library in Talca. It has been run by the Methodist Church in Chile for 25 years. The children and young people receive support at school and have a contact person if there are problems in the family or at school.

Since 2022, 72 children and young people in Camarico have benefited from weekly educational and leisure activities.

The project aims to support children and young people in their education in order to prevent them from dropping out of school. Under the guidance of specialists (psychologist, social worker, nutritionist, lawyer), children and young people also develop skills that go beyond the school curriculum and are geared towards the realities of their lives.

Leisure and sports activities are also on offer.
