A special village in Poland

Zaborze is a small village in Poland. For many years, this village has grown to around three times its size in summer - whenever the Evangelical Methodist Church (EMK) in Poland sets up a very special "village within a village".

From July 7 to 12, 2025, it was time for the 17th time: 405 children aged six to 13 and 180 volunteers moved to their special village to experience a very varied vacation week together.

The program included biblical stories on the six themes of the day: gratitude, justice, humanity, hope, wisdom and joy. But of course there was also a wide range of games and sports activities as well as creative workshops and cultural learning opportunities.

Special protection

The children and staff experienced a very special moment when the area was hit by heavy rainfall, but the village of all places was spared. "We felt God's protective hand over us," said Bożena Daszuta, the widow of the founder of the camp, Pastor Janusz Daszuta. And she concluded: "It was a great time - thank you so much to everyone who supported this special village and made it possible in the first place."

Passing on great experiences

Quite a few of the helpers were themselves participants in this camp a few years ago. Now they were keen to pass on their valuable and unforgettable experiences to a new generation of children. They were supported by two volunteer teams from the USA and Northern Ireland as well as other adults from the EMK congregation in Kielce (Poland).
